Miscarriage Clinic

Overview

If you have experienced two or more miscarriages, St Jude's is uniquely placed to give guidance about what your next step should be.

Medical Director Mr J Adeghe has 30 years experience of helping couples overcome this hurdle, and is well aware of all the emotional and clinical aspects involved.

How can St Jude's help?

There are many potential reasons why a miscarriage occurs. These include:

To have the best chance of a successful pregnancy following a miscarriage, and to put your mind at ease, you should know which of these issues may be affecting you. We will diagnose underlying problems and propose the necessary treatments.

A visit to the miscarriage clinic will offer the following:

tickA full range of immunological tests will be performed to identify possible natural 'killer' cells activity / antiphospholipid syndrome.

tickPelvic ultrasound scan / Hysteroscopy may be required.

tickChromosomal and endocrinology tests can be performed to further isolate underlying causes of recurrent miscarriage.

tickPossible lifestyle adjustments (e.g. diet, smoking) will be suggested and an action plan drawn up with you.

tickAssessment of possible male factors: Seminal infection / Sperm DNA fragmentation test.

Because St. Jude's is one of few centers able to cater for all aspects of women's healthcare, all aspects of miscarriage diagnosis and treatment are carried out within the hospital. All discussions and tests are performed by the lead gynaecologist and clinical nurse, giving you true continuity of care.

Following a successful pregnancy, we offer an Early Antenatal Care package which will give you ongoing reassurance during your pregnancy.

The next step

All clinical assessments require an initial and follow up consultation. Additional tests and procedures may or may not be required, depending on your clinical circumstances.

Remember that diagnosis of issues can save money, time and stress later down the line. We encourage couples with a history of recurrent miscarriage to seek help sooner rather than later.

The first step is to book an initial consultation for a detailed discussion of your history of miscarriages. We also review your medical history, and tests already performed. After any additional tests and procedures suggested by us, we will review the results and discuss the next steps.
